a new path
After 33 years of teaching by day, upon retirement, I decided to expand my love of miniaturing into an enterprise. Building miniatures brings me joy and peace. Creating or restoring a miniature piece is challenging and enlightening.
I started working with miniatures in 1989 when my, then boyfriend, and now husband purchased me a raw wooden six-room
dollhouse. I lived in a heavily industrialized area, there was a cabinet-making factory and at the end of each Christmas, one of the master carpenters would make dollhouses out of wood remnants. They would be sold outside of the factory. For years, I walked by and admired them until one day I purchased one for myself. My boyfriend was very upset, so for Christmas, he gave me a miniature “SOLD” real estate sign and replaced the money spent. Since then, he has indulged my interest and sometimes has to be reined in on spending.
